SME CENTRE@SCCCI -
THE ONE-STOP CENTRE FOR YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS

This article was contributed by:

As a one-stop centre, SME Centre @SCCCI provides a wide range of value-added services to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to compete and grow, enabling them to meet their business challenges against the backdrop of a manpower crunch and rising operating costs.

We help businesses to take the very first step of change in mindset, rethinking their business models, redesigning work processes, and using automation and integrated solutions to raise productivity. We provide guidance on government incentive schemes and consultation on grant applications at no charge to the SMEs.

Our main Centre is located at the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry at Hill Street and our heartland offices are located at Toa Payoh HDB Hub and Ang Mo Kio Community Centre. All our offices are strategically located to provide convenient access to the business community.

Our Success Stories

Our track record includes successfully helping enterprises to obtain government funding for their business restructuring and capability building initiatives. These successful cases span a wide spectrum of industries such as beauty and wellness, education agencies, precision engineering, restaurant, fashion and lifestyle, health care, bakery and coffee shops, retail, F&B and light industries.

In recent months, we have helped more and more micro-enterprises to embark on productivity initiatives by tapping on government assistance schemes. The most commonly utilised grants include the Productivity and Innovation Credit Scheme (PIC) and enhanced Innovation & Capability Voucher (ICV) for productive solutions. An example is the story of a second-generation hawker Terry Tan, who took over his father’s fishball noodles business after returning from New Zealand with a double degree in Infocomm and Accounting. Mr Tan was grateful to SME Centre@Central’s business advisor for sharing with him the various government grants he could apply for to grow his noodle business.

Another SME owner, Mr Alan Wong, who owns an antique shop at Bukit Merah Lane near Alexandra Village, also approached SME Centre@Central for business advisory. Following an assessment of his business needs, Mr Wong proceeded with applying for the PIC grant to support his office automation, including the installation of a CCTV system. While he used to keep track of the inventory for his antique shop manually, having a computer system to check his inventory has greatly increased his overall efficiency. Mr Wong was thankful to SME Centre@Central in helping his business to adopt automation for greater productivity.
